With the UK being an animal loving nation it is fair to say that a good percentage of our homes contain an odour of some sort. The reason why we do not address these things is normally down to cost. Carpet cleaning combined with odour removal is not expensive or inconvenient as one may think. Every home is different with regards to odour levels however the cleaning principal is normally the same. There are instances when a standard carpet cleaning service is in adequate for the home.
Let me go to the far extreme.
Care homes contain our elderly family members who require care. Bodily functions are not under control. Despite the best efforts of the care homes they can’t control the odours. They can at times be so pungent they odour evolves into the walls and ceiling too. So cleaning the carpet would only control one third of the problem.
Odour control chemicals have improved enormously. They do what they say on the can.

The application can be manually sprayed onto porous area. The chemical eats and neutralises the odour instantly.
Cost.
As one may have the common sense each job would be different. The dilution rate required, amount of chemical, time to spray etc. A typical room of 15ft*12ft having the walls and ceiling sprayed on average is £40.00. So let’s look at our homes.
Our beloved canines who we love and they drive us crazy with their antics. Do they have the run of the house? If so odour will be everywhere. So how do we tackle this? Again this is down to the level of pungency.
A standard carpet clean and odour removal will consist of an odour application sprayed directly onto the carpet, followed by the carpet cleaning compound. Agitated and allowed to dwell into the fibres.
The odour applicant is or can be added to the clean water tank of the carpet cleaning machine again depending on the severity.
In certain circumstance the odour may have penetrated the carpets fibres, and is present in the underlay. In these rare cases the underlay must be removed. Before the fitting of new underlay, the subfloor must be cleaned using a solution to destroy odour and germs. The reverse of the carpet has an odour chemical applied. New underlay fitted, along with the carpet fitted. The carpet then receives the same treatment for cleaning.
Although this may sound extreme there is one little bit of advice that we must shout about. How often and why do you clean your clothes? You wear clothes for a day, take them off, clean them in the washing machine. If you didn’t they would smell and eventually become unclean able and you would have to throw them away.
Same theory to your carpets. Rule of thumb. Have your carpets cleaned twice a year if you have animals. If they are only allowed in the living room, a typical cost from Warrington carpet cleaners would be £55.00 for a room size of 15ft *12ft.
Cost to replace a carpet? Hundreds sometimes thousands. Plus, all the upheaval of removing all your items out of your room and then replacing them.
