Upholstery Cleaning Service in Lymm

Your Sofa is used daily by numerous people and pets. Over time, the fabric will start to change colour via the transfer of odours, grease and dirt.

The most noticeable areas will be the headrests and arms.

To remove all these, we use steam cleaning.

This is how we proceed.

1/ Identify the fibre

2/ Treat any noticeable stains such as ink, coffee, food and watermarks.

3/ We always start at the rear and work our way to the sides, then backs and seating area.

4/ Once complete we towel dry the furniture. This also renaps the fabric.

Moisture will be present. To speed up the drying process, we place an air mover. This blows warm air over the furniture, drastically improving the drying time to sometimes as little as 30 minutes.

Featured Job

We have recently attended two properties for a family who had returned home from New Zealand.

One was a farm that they were renting and the other was a property they had purchased.

Both cleans were standard, nothing special. We were asked if there was anything we could do with a rug. The rug was cleaned back in New Zealand and was told this was the best it would come up.

The picture is not the best quality, but you get the idea. It was grubby.

Has your dog had an accident?

Have you tried to deal with it up yourself? The stain went away but no has come back with a vengeance?

This customer had that issue (as you can see from the picture)

All the marks you see were gone when the homeowner attempted to clean this themselves.

They used the off-the-shelf 1001 product. Don’t waste your money!

The marks returned, along with a smell.

To address this issue, all we did was apply a claw to our vacuum hose and flush each area until no yellowing could be seen. A urine neutraliser was then applied, left to dwell, and again flushed out.

We then steam extracted this room for the customer and dried it off using one of our air movers.

We use three systems.

Steam extraction is the most popular this is the most common system. The reason this is so popular is that the steam under pressure contacts the fibres. This pressure is gauged in what is called psi. Pressure per square inch. The steam or hot water can remove odours and a lot of stains upon contact, or odours such as urine giving you that deep down, and sanitised fibre. In addition to this, the drying time can be a little as 2 hours.

Have you ever heard of the dry method?

This process does involve a little moisture and is accompanied by a dry compound. Both are agitated and after 20 minutes are vacuumed out. The benefit of this system is that the item will be dry within minutes. The disadvantages are the removal of dirt and stains has its limitations. This process is used on fibres susceptible to shrinkage, such as Wiltons.

And finally, the bonnet system. This is used on very low-profile fibres such as carpet tiles and in larger areas such as care homes, or business offices. The equipment is a rotary machine with a 17-inch wool pad attached. We use this normally on commercial contracts, care homes.

The survey will help us identify the most effective and safest system to use.

Has your pet had diarrhoea on your carpet? (this is bad)

This was nylon in construction, so it is a manmade product. These are normally a lot easier to work on than say wool fibres.

The lady of the property had gone shopping, and the dog got locked in the bedroom.

As you can see, the accident was quite brutal, however, the dog was on medication, and the smell was awful, so much so I had to put a ventilator mask on.

All the windows were opened!

We just used water as 400 PSI. Using this high level of pressure would blast away all the dirt and odour.

We then recleaned the area again using an alkaline solution and deodoriser. This time, the water pressure was at  300 PSI. We dried the area off and left a happy homeowner with a fresh bedroom.
